Compter-assisted language learning has gained rapid development since 1980s.College English multi-media courseware as an important part of compter-assistedlanguage learning is used more and more widely in the college English learners'studying on their own. College English multi-media courseware not only provides alearning environment, but also is a necessary complement to classroom study.Aimed at the poor applicability and the low interaction of the existing Englishcourseware, the author of the present paper proposes to apply the learner-oriented andgoal-oriented interaction design method to develop college English multi-mediacourseware.Firstly, this paper takes the theory of multi-media learning and interaction designas the theoretical basis by researching the literature. Secondly, the author makes abrief survey on the learning needs of college English learners. With the informationcollected from questionnaires, the author designs this model of college Englishmulti-media courseware. Thirdly, use the goal-oriented interaction method to develop《College English(Third Edition)Focus Listening and Speaking》and show theadvantage of this approach. Finally, summarize briefly the research conclusion andpoint out the existing problems to provide guidance for the follow-up studies.To sum up, this paper is an attempt to provide a good language learningenvironment for college English learners to promote their effectiveness in learningEnglish through the application of college English multi-media courseware.
