Ways of current middle school Chinese classical poetry teaching often fall into the tendency of modelization and routinization. With just a superficial understanding, students can hardly throw themselves into the poem emotionally. The thesis aims to probe into a new way of Chinese ancient poetry teaching which starts with poetic rhythm and focuses on identifying the relationship between poetic rhythm and the poet's emotion. Poetic rhythm, the most direct and essential characteristic of the poem will bring students into the lines and perceive inner feelings of the poem.In the introduction part of the thesis, it summarizes the main arguments on the topic of "the relationship between rhythm and emotion" and research status of this topic in current middle school Chinese classical poetry teaching while clarifying the study significance and purpose of the thesis. In Chapter 1,it analyses the status quo of study on "relationship between rhythm and emotion" in middle school Chinese classical poetry teaching which reflects causes of the insufficiency. In Chapter 2,it further proves the necessity of study on "the relationship between rhythm and emotion" in middle school Chinese classical poetry teaching from multiple angles. The specified functions of this research for teaching are also analyzed in this part. Chapter 3 is the core segment of the thesis, it does not only analyze the characteristics of rhythms for different types of poetry, guide reciting in accordance with these characteristics and teach how to analyze text by combining form and content together but also explore new teaching method.The purpose of the thesis is to lead students better appreciate the poem but not to create, so only basic poetical meter knowledge is involved. Besides that, abundant examples are used to analyze the relationship between poetic rhythm and emotion in a simple way. It also inquires into practical application of the theory from different angles, in hope of providing reference and advice for teachers.
