In the ancicent times of China, Officer's Salary System performed a crucial role in the administrative legal system. The Officer's Salary System in the Ming Dynasty , the main focus of this dissertation, has its unique feature and has long been known as its lowness, therefore, the detailed analysis of gain and loss in this period presents a very important academic value, and gives afford to the modern administrative legislation as well. The reason of placing emphasis on civil servants lies in their important roles in the Ming Dynasty. On one hand, in the early times of the Ming Dynasty, the absolute monarchy has made the civil servants lead a very fearful and alarming life, often being on the verge of death. On the other hand, with the inevitable declines of adminstrative authority and the retrenchment of central finance, the state of civil servants has gradually devoid of any sense of shame and accordingly become more and more greedy. Meanwhile, the policy of taking the whole country as one's own staff has got its further development, even more severe than any time of past dynasties, and the power of emperor's relatives has been enormously exteneded. All the above-mentioned points presents a significant value of Officer's Salay system in the Ming Dynasty.This dissertation will be elumidated as the following three aspects:Firstly, the general introduction to the Officer's Salary System in the Ming Dynasty will be presented. This portion will give a comprehensive introduction to the Officer's Salary System in the Ming Dynasty, which can be divided into three perspectives: the evolution of its principle, certain preferential policies beyond their ordianary salary and the retirement problems of officials in feudal China.Secondly, as the main part of this dissertation, this part will give an analysis of Officer's Salary System in the Ming Dynasty in great detail. On the basis of the collected references, the author would like to put forward the principle of this dissertaion,and also comes to a conclusion that the authorial salary in the Ming Dynasty is not low and the actual salary is not high. Besides, the illegal income of the officials will also be discussed, because it can reflect the actual state of the officals in the Ming Dynasty and has close relation to the salary in the Ming Dynasty.Thirdly, the background information of the Officer's Salary System in the Ming Dynasty will be discussed. With regard to its reason, the author mainly puts forward two points: one is the absolute monarchy, which has no trust in civil servants and make their income very low; the other is the massive power of the emperor's relatives, who has taken the dominant roles in finance. The low salary of civil servants in the Ming Dynasty results in a series of serious consequences, including corrupt phenomenon in official circles, low efficiency in adminstrative department,the increasing differentiation in rich and poor.All of these serious consequences cause the Ming Dynasty to perdition in quicker speed, from which the transition from the political autarchy to economical lowness can be seen, accordingly, the civil servants undergo the transiotion from non-dignity to non-shame.The final portion is the conclusion part. This part is composed of two aspects: one is the academic value of this dissertation. To be frank, this dissertation is fulfilled on the basis of already existing research findings and developed by the auther's own ideas.The other is that the focus of this dissertation is to access the Offier's Salary System in the Ming Dynasty and to draw lessons from the past, and then to give certain contribution to the present.
