The Development And Application Research On Modesty Of College Students

Purpose:This study was designed to prepare the psychological modesty research tool for measuring the level of college students'modesty, on this basis, expand the status research on psychological characteristics of college students'modesty.Method:In the research for preparing "College Students Modesty Questionnaire" and analysing its reliability and validity, we selected 376 undergraduate students of Nanchang University as the initial test. While we studyed the college students' modesty level,422 undergraduates that from four universities in Jiangxi Province were investigated. Using SPSS 17.0 and LISREL8.70 statistical software for data analysis.Results:1. The "College Students Modesty Questionnaire" has good reliability and validity, which can be used as a tool for measuring the psychological modesty of undergraduates. The psychological modesty is composed of five dimensions, which are modest inclination, modest effect, modest defense, humility sincere and humble norm.2. The college students'modesty is at the middle level, they identity modest effect, understand the motivation of modesty and admit its importance, but their score in the dimension of modest tendency is slightly lower than the median. The difference comparison for college students'modesty on demographic variables, which results show that in ten variables such as gender, single or not, one parent or not, the scholarship status, whether served as student leaders, grade level, economic status, academic status, relationship status, type of school, their psychological modesty has significant differences. But the students from different nationalities, professional, way of family education, there is no difference in their level of psychological modesty.Conclusions:1. The "College Students Modesty Questionnaire" has good reliability and validity.2. Overall university students'modesty level is well and in the demographic dimensions have significant differences.
