Professional translation (Non-literary Translation) is a new profession which receives more and more attention nowadays. And businesses and exchanges between different countries call for professional translators. Professionalism is critical for translators. The author chooses a translation project, the questionnaire on the Expo 2010,as the case, and tries to illustrate the professionalism of translators from the perspective of theories and practices.Function Theory of Translation can be helpful to translators, especially Reiss's theory of text type and Vermeer's skopos theory. It is advisable for a professional translator to study theories to improve their translation skills.The key part is the analysis from a perspective of practices. Preparation before translation and the management of translation project is of great importance to translators. During the translation process a professional translator should attach great importance to the following three points: first the key information of the source text; second the different logic thinking between English and Chinese; third the readers.
