This paper aims to study the influence of introducing cultural background into target language during the process of teaching Chinese as a second language. We consulted linguistics, anthropology, psychology, cross-cultural communication and other related theories, following the guidance of teaching methods .We also examined students from different countries with "culture distance" between their native culture and our culture, different attitudes to Chinese culture and the impact of these attitudes to learning Chinese. Students are observed during different stages about the level of understanding culture. Then we analyzed the influence of these changes on the Chinese learning, and demonstrated that the learner's level of the cultural awareness affects language learning. At the end of this paper, we suggested to introduce Chinese culture in different stages of teaching Chinese pronunciation, characters, vocabulary, grammar, pragmatics, summarize the lessons learned, and improve the methods and techniques during this process. |
