Idiom teaching is an important part of vocabulary teaching.However,idioms which contain cultural connotation is not only the treasure of Chinese culture,but also an effective way for international students to understand Chinese culture.Based on the research object of idioms in the following books which are The development of Chinese(Comprehensive series)and Boya Chinese,this paper analyzes the Chinese culture and presents the specific teaching method based on the cultural connotation and enumerates teaching cases for demonstration.The whole paper contains four chapters.The first chapter introduces the selected topic origin and the related research result,and it also explains the relevant theories and research methods.The second chapter introduces the basic situation of the idioms in the books of The development of Chinese(Comprehensive series)and Boya Chinese.It also selects 94 idioms with distinctive cultural characteristics to classify.These idioms are organizing for three main parts which are substance,system,and spirit.Substance culture includes idioms and natural environment,idioms and military war,while system culture includes idioms and family ethics system,idioms and marriage system,and psychological culture includes idioms and moral culture,idioms and philosophy,idioms and the way of thinking.Based on the HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus,the third chapter analyses the structure mistakes,semantic mistakes,and pragmatic mistakes which students make due to the lake of culture.Chapter 4 puts forward a series of teaching methods according to the specific cultural idioms.For the structure,cultural factors penetration method and gaming method are suggested;while for the context,language environment creation method,vision and the sense of hearing and speaking and the combination of a story,liberal translation and cultural contrast method,and cultural association method are suggested;For the pragmatics,collocation and stylistic style are suggested.In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of teaching methods,chapter 5 select 14 idioms to verifies.This chapter lists the lesson plans and use it in the teaching based on the proposed teaching method.International students who participate in the test are divided into two groups.The experimental group uses the teaching method which is put forward in this paper,and the comparative group uses the traditional teaching method.It is confirmed that the score of experimental group is higher than comparative group.So,the teaching method is effective.
