A Study On The Comparison Between Frequency Adverbs "Lvci" And "Lvlv" In Modern Chinese

Based on syntactic features,semantic features,and pragmatic features,this thesis is a comparative study of"lvci"and"lvlv".This is the study about the"lvci"and"lvlv". This whole project is focused on the research studying of"lvci"and"lvlv"and also to distinguish the differences as above through three aspects which are semantic features, syntactic features and pragmatic feature.Chapter one is firstly talking about the similarities of frequency adverb based on the semantic features aspect, and follow up with comparing and analyzing the differences through semantic aspect, emotional element as well as in quantitative analysis.Firstly, this study is based on the word formation of the"lvci"and"lvlv". Mainly,"lvci"is more on the modified structure and"lvlv"is more focus on reduplicative structure.Secondly, it is investigated by the semantic feature. When both words is meaning of"frequency", these two words can actually replace either other, and will not misleading the meaning as a whole. However, in some special circumstance, it will not be able to replace between two and will confuse to the whole.Thirdly, the emphasis of"lvci"and xxx is different in semantic."lvci"is emphasis more on the individual behavior and xxx is more on the result of overall behavior.Lastly, a study is on the quantitative analysis. By samples,"lvci"adopts to describe the quantity of 3-13. On another hand, the quantity of the"lvlv"is higher than the"lvci"on average which has 5-19. In the second chapter, we discuss the different semantic features between"lvci"and"lvlv".According to the research, there is an antithesis in the time features among"lvci"and"lvlv"."lvci"indicates short time,"lvlv"indicates longtime We can not agree with the antithesis, because both"lvci"and"lvlv"can unrestrainedly indicate long time and short time.Through our investigations,"lvci"can be used in the past tenses and thepresent tense, even in the future tense, while"lvlv"only use in the past tense.Besides, based on different scanning patterns,there are some differentsemantic features between"lvci"and"lvlv". First of all,"lvci"is procedural, while"lvlv"is non-procedural. Secondly,"lvci"is continuous while"lvlv"is non-continuous. Last but not least,"lvci"is dynamic while"lvlv"isnon-dynamic.This chapter is focus on the discussion of the usage information of the"lvci"and"lvlv"in declarative sentence and interrogative sentence in pragmatics. By research,"lvci"and"lvlv"have a higher frequent use in the passive. Finally, the study will compare these two words in linguistic style. As a result,"lvci"is more used in the oral language and"lvlv"has a higher quantity used in literary language.
