As a kind of the character with ideographic features , Chinese characters often reflects some cultural information of social life, which in the relation between its form and meaning, sound and meaning, and between the meaning variations. The radical of Jin of Shuo wen jie zi accepts 197words, it is one of top ten radical which accept the most characters in its 540 radicals.The characters which formed by Jin experienced a long time from production until now, accumulated heavy ancient culture, it was an important part of Chinese characters history. The appearance of th e metal tool brought great revolution for the application of human social production tools and marked the social civilization process entered a new era. The radical of Jin was a major categories in ancient culture and the cultural implications which reflec ted by the radical of Jin was a subject worth studying. This paper take the characters formed by Jin as the research object and make research to its meaning categories, the evolution of form and meaning and its cultural information.This paper will be divided into five chapters, content as follows :The first chapter: introduction. Briefly explain the topic selected reasons, summarize the research status quo, introduce its research significance and scope.The second chapter: Analysis of the characters formed by Jin in the Oracle Bone Inscription and Bronze Inscription. Firstly introduce the process of Chinese metal era and its influence. Then summarize and analyze the the characters formed by Jin in the Zhou dynasty and Spring and autumn period writing.The third chapter: Analysis of the characters formed by Jin in the warring states scripts. According to the method of qin, chu, sanjin, qi, yan 5 departments of the warring states scripts, this chapter research the characters formed by Jin in the warring states script on the basis of area classification primarily and writing material for auxiliary.The fourth chapter: Analysis of the characters formed by Jin in Shuo wen jie zi . Firstly classify the characters in the radical of Jin according to their meanings. In general, those characters can be classified into 6 categories: the name of metal; the Character of metal; Metallurgy and affiliated; metal finished products; unit of measurement and others . Then analyze and research 13 repeated characters in the radical of Jin in Shuo wen jie zi .The fifth chapter: Comparative study on the characters formed by Jin. Comparative study the characters formed by Jin in the Zhou dynasty and Spring and autumn period writing, the warring states scripts and Shuo wen jie zi. Discuss the rule of development and evolution of the characters formed by Jin form the character change, the form evolution and the meaning evolution.
