Objective: To study the personality, metal health status and correlationship between the two of Ice abusers. Methods: A survey was performed on 112 Ice abusers in the amusement places of Qingdao city from October 2010 to March 2011. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and logistic multivariate regression analysis were employed. Results:1. Crowd characteristics of Ice abusers: 89.3% of the samples was in their twenties to forties; 75.9% was male; 79.5% was below high school cultural standard ; 54.5% was unemployed and 79.5% was single or divorced.2. The total score and each subscores of SCL-90 of Ice abusers were significantly higher than that of the general adult (p<0.001), and it was observed that the anxiety subscore and depression subscore of SCL-90 of the male was significantly higher than female (t=2.141,2.086;p<0.05).3. After comparing 16PF score between the abusers and the Chinese norm,we found that the male Ice addicts got higher scores in activeness(A),imagination(M) and Experimentation (Q1) (p<0.01 or 0.05), and lower scores in Intelligence(B), Stability (C), Strength-Dependence (E), Persistence (G), Suspicion(L) , Sophistication(N), Independence (Q2), Self-control(Q3) and Fantasy(Q4) (p<0.01 or 0.05); and that the female Ice addicts got higher scores in activeness(A) and Courageousness(H)(p<0.01), and lower scores in Intelligence(B), Stability(C), Strength-Dependence(E), Excitability(F), Persistence(G), Sophistication(N), Independence (Q2) and Self-control(Q3) (p<0.01 or 0.05). We also found that comparing with the male Ice addicts, the females got higher scores in activeness(A), Intelligence(B) and Fantasy(Q4) (p<0.01 or 0.05), and lower scores in Stability(C), Excitability(F), Persistence(G) and Experimentation (Q1) (p<0.01 or 0.05).4. Correlation analysis showed that there were significant positive correlation between the total score of SCL-90 and age/marital condition/first-abuse age/Ice-abused year/M/Q1/Q3 (p<0.01 or 0.05),while negative correlation between the total and N (p<0.01). We also found positive correlation between Body symptom and B (p<0.01); positive correlation between Obsession and age/marital condition/first-abuse age/M/Q1 (p<0.05); positive correlation between Sensitivity and age/marital condition/Q4 (p<0.01 or 0.05); positive correlation between Depression and age/ marital condition/ first-abuse age/I/L (p<0.01 or 0.05), while negative correlation between Depression and male(p<0.05); positive correlation between Anxiety and age/marital condition/first-abuse age/ Ice-abused year /M /Q1 (p<0.05); positive correlation between Animosity and C (p<0.01); positive correlation between Fear and age/ first-abuse age (p<0.05) while negative correlation between Fear and N (p<0.01); positive correlation between Paranoid and age/Ice-abused year (p<0.01 or 0.05) while negative correlation between Paranoid and I (p<0.01); positive correlation between Mental Illness and career/F(p<0.01).5. The combination of Sex, Age, Marital condition, Average Monthly Income, A, H, M and N can explain 33.8% extent of variation of the mental health status; The combination of Average Monthly Income, B and N can explain 10.7% extent of variation of somatization; The combination of First-abuse age, Marital condition, M and Q1 can explain 22.9% extent of variation of obsessive-compulsive; The combination of Marital condition, G and Q4 can explain 12.0% extent of variation of interpersonalsensitivity; The combination of Sex, Marital condition, Education Level, Average Monthly Income, First-abuse age, I and O can explain 28.0% extent of variation of depression; The combination of Sex, Average Monthly Income, Mother's Education Level, First-abuse age, A, F, M and Q1 can explain 36.5% extent of variation of anxiety; The combination of Career, Mother's Education Level, C, G and N can explain 17.3% extent of variation of hostility; The combination of Age, First-abuse age, Ice-abused year, N and Q3 can explain 27.9% extent of variation of phobieanxiety; The combination of Age, Career, I and Q2 can explain 14.1% extent of variation of phobieanxiety; The combination of Age, Career, I and Q2 can explain 14.1% extent of variation of paranoidideation; The combination of Education Level,Average Monthly Income, E and F can explain 15.2% extent of variation of paranoidideation. Conclusions: 1. Crowd characteristics of Ice abusers: More Young Adults, More male, Lower level of education, More unemployed ,More single or divorced.2. The mental health level of Ice abusers was lower than that of the general adult. And the mental health problem of male was more worse than female. 3. The personality characteristics of Ice abusers was:higher A, lower B, lower E, lower G, lower N, lower Q2 and lower Q3. 4. The personality characteristics were significantly related to metal health level. Some personality characteristics may be risk factors of psychosomatic symptoms, and others may be protected factors.
