The application and study of image semiotics in modern flat design of commercial advertising is an applied and tentative study in flat commercial advertising design. At the time being, the accomplishment of research in this area is extremely little, and it doesn't form systemic and academic specification, this paper applies the basic theory of semiotics, with comprehensive reference to the knowledge and literacy of phenomenology, art sociology, and art psychology, exploring the image composition and rules of visual conveyance of modern flat commercial advertising design, in order to expand new era of flat design theories and new development direction of practical research as well as providing new theoretical resources and thinking ways for modern flat commercial advertising design.This paper is on the theoretical ground of semiotics, attempting to provide a design method that possesses the trait of communication and aesthetics for flat commercial advertising design. It makes theoretical research from three aspects of semiotic structural analysis, functional structural of semiotic significance, and semantic expression of semiotic, with the aim at providing certain enlightenment for the new development direction of the exploration of design thinking.
