although colors exist in all languages and nations, the recognition, understanding and expression of colors are quite different. By comparing the words of colors in different nations, we could understand the universality and nationality of the words of colors better, which could also contribute to the communication and studying of the national cultures. The paper is explaining the differences and sameness of the words of colors in Chinese and Mongolian through the comparisons of the forms of words, cultural connotations and the reasons for the differences.First, the words of colors in Chinese and Mongolian are divided into the basics and the non-basics.In order to find the differences and the sameness of the words of colors in the two languages, we need to compare their forms. The sameness lies in the conciseness and the accuracy of the expression, and the similar ways of human recognition, while the difference mainly exists in the forms.Second, five basic color words are selected as the studying objects. By comparing, we could find out the differences and the sameness of their symbol meaning, which could stimulate people's interest and help them to master and use.Lastly, the elaboration and the analyses of the reasons for the culture differences are discussed, mainly about the differences of the human environment and the natural environment.
