A Study On The New Words System Of

In the 19th century, especially after the Opium War in 1840, the Chinese words had been greatly developed because of the tremendous changes of the Chinese social. The main feature is that a large number of new words have emerged during this period.On the one hand, the economic principles and practical terms had made it a law that the words need to be continuously refreshed, which is common in any periods in the Chinese history; on the other hand, the unique social and cultural background had breed the new words, which is a unique feature of the Chinese modern time. was a classic Chinese modern magazine which was found by missionaries in 1853, whose words had greatly reflected the characteristics of the Chinese modern times. The words, not only followed the same strain of the traditional Chinese words, but also been affected by Western words directly. Now we divided these new words into 2 parts: Words with new forms and words with new meanings.The former, refer to the words firstly appear in and never been used in previous literature, dictionaries, notes, etc, and were created by traditional way, which had expanded the number of Chinese words. The latter, refer to the old words which had been given new meanings, which had enlarge the capacity of the Chinese words.The emergence of the new words had greatly met the requirement of the development of modern Chinese society. However, centuries ago, the government at that time had ignored the management of these new words, so that there are a large number of words with confused meanings or incorporate forms existed among them, which had caused much misleading. Even today, they still have negative impact on people's daily communication. So, to regulate and manage these words is an urgent problem need to be solved.We research on mainly based on the 2 aspects, on the one hand, we do some research on modern Chinese new words in order to carry out some useful conclusions; on the other hand, we hope to do some Preliminary work on the regulation of these words.
