Skopos theory,the translation theoretical model developed by Hams Vermeer,aGermma trmaslator and critic,transfers its focus to the version and its reader instead of theoriginal text and its author,and emphasizes the corresponding translation strategies madmethods in some specific purposes from the translation function and skopos,in other words,multiple methods can be adopted in order to achieve some trmaslation purpose,differenttrmaslation purposes corresponds with different methods Therefore,the translation studiesbecome widened,and translation memas has been adopted widely in trmaslating,whichprovides the theoretic basis for translating sourse texts flexibly."Skopos theory"illustrates translation activities from a new perspective of targetlmaguage,which completes the communicative function,meanwhile,should be in keepingwith the wishes of all paxticipmats In fact,the poetry translation by Xu Yuanchong is basedon the source text and tries to reflect its connotation,and has to make choice~-hen the'!three beauties"cannot be all given attention That is,''the end justifies the means",whichis advocated by skopos theory,yet it is worthwhile to note that translation depends not onlyon the trmaslator'S purpose,but also on the"fidelity rule",that is,while translating,thetrmaslator should choose different translation methods flexibl~based on different purposes,under the restriction of''fidelity",such translation can be called as true translationTherefore,the author illustrates Mr Xu'S poetry translation theory from Skopos theoryby Vermeer,this is a nev~-research perspective The author researches the advantages ofXu'S poetic translation theory from the perspective of Skopos theory Also,mainly bycomparative analysis,mad using a large number of exmnples at home and abroad,the authordemonstrates Xu'S trmaslation theory of"Art of Beautification,Creative Trmaslation BeingLike Competition"in detail and makes the reader a deeper understanding ofthe guidance ofSkopos theory to poetic translation Before writing the thesis,the author first introduces the significance of the study andpurpose of the choice of this topic Meanwhile,a discussion on the theoretical basis,research methodology and data collection is also to be provided Then,the author started towrite the body part Firstly,the author presents the literature review of the skopos theory,including the time,background and development of the Skopos theory,as well as its keyconcept and rules,SO the readers can know pretty much about the skopos theory Next,theauthor makes a brief introduction of Xu'S translation theory in detail,in order to pave theway for latter analysis,which consists of the theories of'"three beauties",'"threetransformations"and"creative translation"Thirdly,the author males a detailed analysis onXu'S poetic translation theory from the perspective of Skopos theory,this is the backboneand keystone ofthe thesis By comparative analysis,and using many examples at home andabroad,the author demonstrates Xu'S translation theory and practice in detail and thereaders can get a deeper understanding of the guidance of Skopos theory to poetictranslation In addition,the author also comments on its theory in order that the reader canknow-the advantages of Xu'S theory and practice systematically Later,the author discussesthe extension of the study While collecting relevant information,the author researches theskopos theory plays a quite important role in literary translation,which makes the readerssee a new perspective and comprehend the translation flexibility,in addition to obey therules The last part is the conclusion,a brief summary of the whole thesis,whichsummarizes the contribution and limitation ofthe thesis and points out the prospects for thefuture research The author hopes that we can encourage each other...
