The The Investigation Of Poloysemies In 'The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary'

The 5th edition of'the contemporary Chinese dictionary'has a much larger number in polysemies than the 4th edition. There are also three different between the two editions:a) the 5th edition has much more meanings, b) some of the meanings in the 4th edition have been deleted in the 5th edition.c) some of independented meanings in the 4th edition have been mergered in the new edition. In view of the above situations, we descided to analysis the new edition of'the contemporary Chinese dictionary'in three ways as well:a) the adding of the meanings which caused by the grammar and semantic. b) the reduce of the meanings which caused by the adjustment or social development. c) the independented or mergered meanings,including the meaning in entries or between entries. Considering there are different reasons that cause the changing of the meanings, we are measuring the changing as well as finding the reasons. As a dictionary that committed to show the modern Chinese dialect vocabulary system, the contemporary Chinese dictionary's every adjustment have contributed to the Chinese vocabulary research. We also hope this paper could benefit the Chinese vocabulary's standardization.
