This study is to know the general characteristics of subjective well-being of the urban and rural junior middle school students in Hunan Province at present and explore whether there are differences among gender, grades and regions on total score and the scores of each dimension in subjective well-being of urban and rural middle school students.Object of study is the students from urban and rural areas of Hunan Province, we use stratified random sampling method, with the junior subjective well-being event log table, young students life satisfaction scale, the scale of happiness and ASLEC and conduct a questionnaire survey of 946 junior high school students in Hunan Province, and then analyze the data with the statistical software SPSS 16.0.Results:1.Overall, subjective well-being of urban and rural middle school students is below the middle level.2.Junior high school students are significantly different between urban and rural areas in the overall subjective well-being and life satisfaction and it's factors.3.Junior high school students are significantly different between the grades in the academic satisfaction, overall subjective well-being and overall life satisfaction.4.Junior high school students are significantly different between female and male in the family satisfaction.5.Diference between Urban and rural areas, grade and life events, the results can predict subjective well-being in junior high school students to some extent.
