Object To investigate the level of self-esteem,family circumstance(including Social Economical Status,Parental Style etc)and the school adaption of floating children in China, as well as exploring the internal mechanisms among the three.Method The questionnaires used include four dimensions'parental style scale revised by Liang Yaojian, Rosenberg's self-esteem scale, school adaption scale worked out by Cui Na, as well as the SES scale made by the author on the basis of Shen Jiliang'scale and Su xiaolin'scale.The subjects made up of three groups, one is from the public school in the city center, the other is from the private school for the floating children specially, the third is from the mixed public school in the suburb.Result The self-esteem score (p<0.01)and the school adaption score (p<0.05) of city children are much higher than that of floating children. Being indifferent and refuse to the floating children from mother is much higher than that of city children (p<0.05).The care (p<0.05) and freedom (p<0.01)given by the father to the city children is much higher than that to the floating children. Human capital of floating children is much lower than that of city children (p<0.01);The school adaption (p<0.01),parental style (p<0.05)and self-esteem (p<0.01)of floating children in the public middle school are much better than in the mixed public school or the private school;The relationship between teacher (p<0.05)and student and normal adaption (p<0.05),mother's care (p<0.05)and father's care (p<0.05)showed significant difference in different grades; Girls and boys showed better in school adaption(p<0.01);The school adaption, parental style and self-esteem of floating children have positive correlation with each other in most dimensions(p<0.01),(p<0.05);Self-esteem is a partial intermediary between mother's parental style and school adaption(p<0.01).The Intermediary effect ratio is20.06%, which is to say mother's parental style can affect children's school adaption by affecting self-esteem; self-esteem is a partial intermediary between father's parental style and school adaption (p<0.01).The Intermediary effect ratio is22.12%.That is to say father's parental style can affect children's school adaption by affecting self-esteem; self-esteem is a total intermediary between human capital and school adaption (p<0.01).Only by affecting self-esteem that human capital can affect the school adaption.Conclusion The self-esteem, school adaption and family circumstance of floating children are worse than city children. School adaption can be affected by parental style or indirectly affected by it through the introduction of self-esteem. Human capital can affect the level of self-esteem, which has affection of the school adaption.
