Chinese Idioms were formed in the development of conventional fixed phrases. The majority of Chinese idioms were formed in the pre-Qin era. According to statistics, Dictionary of Idioms published by the Commercial Press in August2004including17,000idioms, among that89.6percent of the phrase come from the ancient Chinese. In the process of ancient Chinese change into modern Chinese, many of the characteristics of ancient Chinese had disappeared, while many of the features has still retained in the Chinese Idioms, which keep the factors as same as ancient Chinese. It is easy to cause people misunderstood the meaning of some Chinese idioms for did not understanding the composition and the etymology. It is easier to make mistakes, especially when faced with the extended meaning of monosyllabic words, the usage borrow words, the different meaning words of ancient and modern in Chinese idioms.There are obvious shortcomings in this regard for the related dictionaries are or limited to the style, or subjected to the length. It is not a good solution to solve the problem of interpretation of some Chinese idioms.This thesis is focus on researching the meaning of some Chinese idioms, and taking into account discriminating the meaning of some two-syllable words in Chinese idioms, and supplementing another ten Chinese idioms which are easy to misunderstood or misused. By doing work in these aspects, such as to retort with challenging questions; to clear up doubts; to correct errors; to retrospective etymology, in order to achieve understanding and using Chinese idioms accurately; simultaneously it can make up the omissions of dictionaries, and offer reference for amendment.
