"The White Revolution" in Iran, also known as "The King and the People's Revolution",was atop-down reform taking the land reform as the center, involving all aspects of society including economic, political and social reform etc.,which took place in the1960s and1970s.It aimed to make Iran a uniquemonarchic developed capitalist country. the reformers wished to avoid both "The Red Revolution" led bythe People of Iran Party and"The Black Revolution" led by religious leaders. It was called "The WhiteRevolution" because the reformers wished to carry it out without bleeding. It was not only different from thesocialist revolutions after the World War II, but also different from the typical bourgeois revolution, to agreater extent, it should be regarded as a form of enlightened despotism in the20th century.Sorts of internal and external factors contributed to this unprecedented great change in the history ofIran, The first part of this paper analyzed these internal and external factors;"The White Revolution" inIran lasted16years, the measures were introduced and improved gradually, the second part of this paperdescribed its reform process and the main measures in detail;"The White Revolution " in Iran changed thecountry radically, and made great achievements in economic, political, educational and other aspects, especially the industrial bases laid during it for Iran won't disappear with the end of the Pahlavi dynasty, sothe third part of this paper analyzed the great achievements made during " the White Revolution " withlarge amounts of data; However, this kind of catch-up development model by which the reformersattempted to compress the processes lasted about two hundred years in the Western countries into onlymore than ten years in this country with low starting point in economic development, backward politics, lack of the accumulation of modernity also caused many problems, the fourth section of this paperdiscussed and researched these problems in detail.Iran's Islamic Revolution overthrew the Pahlavi dynasty, but the collapse of the Pahlavi dynasty didnot mean the failure of " the White Revolution " and the end of the process of modernization in Iran.On thecontrary, to a certain extent, that precisely proved the success of " the White Revolution ". Appropriateanalysis and evaluation of the merits and demerits of " the White Revolution "in Iran doesn't only show ourrespect for history, but also offers some lessons to those developing countries which are eager to realize the modernization quickly.
