Through evaluating the present status of four different middle school students from Hunan province via random sampling method based on reviewing past domestic and abroad studies about academic procrastination systematically, the research aimed to further investigate the relationship among academic procrastination, parenting style and academic self-efficacy, and to inspect the plausible internal mechanism of academic self-efficacy as the mediation variation of parenting style and academic procrastination. Four questionnaires were used, such as The Academic Procrastination Questionnaire(APQ), Parenting Style Questionnaire(PSQ) and Academic Self-efficacy Questionnaire(ASQ). Results of our research further enriched both the research achievements of the related factors of academic procrastination and the theoretical researching contents of developmental and educational psychology, which also promoted the progress of academic procrastination researching localization. Meanwhile this study provided instructive reference frames to students’ procrastination deducing and interference. Conclusions are as follows:Firstly, It’s common that the middle school students showed academic procrastinate behavior. The medium or severe academic procrastinate behavior were observed in majority of them.Secondly, significantly differences of academic procrastination were found in gender and grade. More academic procrastination behaviors were observed in boys than girls, as well as in grade 2 and grade 3 rather than in grade 1.Moreover, parenting style was significantly related to academic procrastination. Affection-warmed parenting style could negatively predict academic procrastination, while neglecting and authoritarian parenting style could positively predict academic procrastination. Academic self-efficacy was significantly negative related to academic procrastination. It could negatively predict academic procrastination.Besides, academic self-efficacy plays a part of the intermediary role between affection-warmed parenting style and academic procrastination.
