Objective: To investigate the status of college students’ academic procrastination and its relationship with psychological capital and parenting style for providing the basis to improve the academic procrastination and promote university students’ mental health level. Methods: This study takes university students in grade one and grade three from Anhui Normal University, Wannan Medical College and Anhui Engineering University as research object. The questionnaires for using are self-designed general information questionnaire, Procrastination Assessment Scale-Students, Positive Psychological Capital Questionnaire and Egma Minnen av Bardndosnauppforstran. Results: ①College students’ academic procrastination shows differences on gender, grade and major. The degree of female students’ academic procrastination is more serious than male(P<0.001).The degree of freshman’s academic procrastination is more serious than the degree of junior student(P<0.001).The degree of academic procrastination for different majors is not the same, the degree of academic procrastination for normal students’ is more serious than the degree of polytechnic students and medical students(P<0.001). ②The expectation of improving college students’ academic procrastination shows the different in general learning task on different grades. The expectation of freshman is stronger than that of junior students(P<0.01).The level of expectation has obvious difference on major, the level of normal students’ expectation is lower than that of polytechnic students and medical students(P<0.001). ③College students’ psychological capital shows differences on gender, grade, origin of student and major. The psychological capital level of male is higher than female on the dimension of self-efficacy(P<0.001),and lower than female on the hope dimension(P<0.05). On the dimensions of self-efficacy and optimism, the psychological capital level of freshman is higher than that of junior student(P<0.05), the level of urban students is higher than that of rural students(P<0.05). The normal students’ psychological capital level is lower than that of polytechnic students and medical students on the dimensions of self-efficacy and resilience(P<0.01),and the level of medical students is higher than the level of normal students and polytechnic students on the dimensions of hope and optimism(P<0.01). ④The parenting style of college students shows differences on gender, grade, origin of student, only-child or nor and major. The score of male is higher than that of female on the dimensions of F2,F3,F5,F6,M3 and M4(P<0.01),is lower than female on the dimensions of F1,F4,M1 and M5(P<0.05).The score of freshman is higher than that of junior student on the dimension of M2(P<0.01). The score of urban students is higher than that of rural students on the dimensions of F1,F3,M1,M2(P<0.05),and lower than rural students’ level on the dimensions of F4,M5(P<0.05).The score of the only-child students is higher than the score of the students who are not only-child on the F3, F5, M3 dimension(P<0.05), and be lower on the F4 and M5 dimension(P<0.001).Different majors have the obvious difference on parenting style except the dimensions of F1,M2. The score of medical students is lower than the score of normal students and polytechnic students on all the dimension except F1 and M1(P<0.01). ⑤College students’ academic procrastination shows negative correlation with psychological capital and its dimensions(self-efficacy, resilience, hope and optimism). The expectation of improving college students’ academic procrastination shows positive correlation only with the hope dimension. ⑥College students’ academic procrastination shows positive correlation with the dimensions of F2,F4,M3,M4,M5 for parenting style, and has a negative correlation with the dimensions of F1 and M1. The expectation of improving college students’ academic procrastination shows negative correlation with the F2,F5,M3,M4 dimension of parenting style, and has a positive correlation with the dimension of M1. Conclusion: There are many differences in college students’ academic procrastination, academic procrastination have correlation with both psychological capital and parenting style.
