With the progress and development of the time, the quality requirements to the talents by human society are not only on physically strong and healthy, professional solid, but more on stable and healthy mentality. Like subjective experiences, the self-esteem and aloneness also are both affected by the social, culture and environment factors which are the important indicators of children's psychological health. The peculiar running model of boarding school makes objective differences of study life between boarding schools and none-boarding schools and this thesis can provide scientific and useful information for the two types of school education with research and comparison the status quos and characteristics of pupils'self-esteem and aloneness. Meanwhile, it also can push the mental health education efforts in different schools to make the pupils grow up in a healthy and strong way, no matter how different the living and studying environments they are in.This thesis is based on the Questionnaire survey from 548 pupils who are 4th 5th 6th grade of 4 boarding and none-boarding schools in Mianyang, with the'scale of children self-esteem'and'scale of children aloneness'. The data were sorted and statistically analysed. Subsequently, we did Semi-structured interviews with 8 teachers and 12 students from these four schools, and we make the following conclusions with the data analysis and the contents of interviews:1. On self-esteem, the boarding school pupils has no obvious gender difference but significant grade differences, and the level of self-esteem in fifth grade is significant higher than the level in fourth and sixth grade; And on aloneness, there is significant gender difference in boarding school pupils, however, grade difference is not noticeable.2. The none-boarding school pupils are obviously in both gender differences and grade differences on self-esteem, but neither obvious gender difference nor grade difference on aloneness.3. The two types of school pupils have no obvious difference in self–esteem. Different self-esteem shows between boarding boys and non-boarding boys while it is not obvious between these two types school girls; different self-esteem shows between boarding pupils and non-boarding pupils in sixth grade, while it is not obvious between these two types pupils in fourth and fifth grade.4. The two types of school pupils have no obvious difference in aloneness. Different aloneness shows between boarding boys and non-boarding boys while it is not obvious between these two types school girls; there is no obvious different aloneness between two types school students in each grade.5. The self-esteem of pupils is negative related to the aloneness of pupils, and the self-esteem can be predicted by the aloneness.
