Context: Senior middle school is a special stage in which students start off with a transition period from adolescence to mature personality of early adult, with gradually understanding and bearing social roles and social responsibility in social cultural environment. Senior middle school students, especially those new students in key school, begin their study with high self-expecting after selection process. However, facing pressure of study, heavy schoolwork, the change of teachers'teaching method, unfamiliar environment and dormitory life, students are likely to be tired of study and campus life in senior middle school, which may result in various psychological and behavioral problems. Meanwhile, students have little personal time for individual counseling, beca810831621 use of the strict management of senior middle school. It is high time to make full use of campus existing resources, and to provide fully psychological aid for students in short time for education and psychological workers.At present, there are few research on school adaptation of new students in boarding school, international research mainly carry out this problem by changing environment or providing social support, while domestic research is done with some specific interventions. To provide a set of efficiency, time-saving and feasible intervention schemes for new students'school adaptation of boarding school, which makes full use of school resources, this paper attempts to focus on new students'school adaptation of boarding school in Panjin with psychological counseling theories and practice, so as to provide a set of effective and convenient intervention plans for mental health education workers. Besides, it can improve students' school adaptation ability and their mental health.This research mainly adopts questionnaire investigation, empirical research method and interview. Middle-school students'Life adaption questionnaire and Middle-school student Mental Health Scale edited by Prof. WangJisheng were used as research instrument. The questionnaires were send to two boarding high school in Panjin, including 1863 students of 4 key classes and 16 general classes in Grade 1, selecting 2 key classes as Experimental Group and Reference Group randomly. The Experimental Group accepted mental health intervention course once a week for 10 times in their Gym Class or class meeting time, which lasts 40 to 60 minutes each time. All the statistical data in this research were carried out by SPSS 17.0.Finally, eight conclusions were got:1. The problems on school adaption of Panjin boarding high school students of Grade 1 are:Schoolwork adaption, self- adaption, relations adaption between students and teachers, classmate adaption and norm adaptation. Students in General Class are better than those in Key Class in school adaption.; Girls and non-only-child children are better than boys and only-child children in norm adaption; The relations between students and teachers are closely related to students'admissions grades, the high their admissions grades are, the better they adapt in relations between students and teachers. 2. The mental health influencing factors of Panjin boarding high school students of Grade 1 are:academic pressures, maladjustment problems, emotional balance problems, inquietude, bigoted, interpersonal relation, hostility, depression, psychological unbalance and obsession. Comparing with students in key class, students in general class are related to psychological problem such as maladjustment, depression and emotional balance.3. The intervention schemes made in this research can improve the mental health level of senior middle school new students, as well as their school adaption ability.
