Tu Hai was one of crucial ministers in early time of Qing Dynasty when Shunzhi and Kangxi on their seats as emperors. Tu Hai was the general fuyuan who started an expedition to Shanxi province when Xuan Ye was suppressing the Revolt of the Three Feudatories. He made his first victory in Pingliang in which Wang Fuchen surrendered. Shortly after that battle, there was a difference in strategy of Hanzhong Xingan march between him and the emperor. In the eighteenth year under the reign of Kangxi (1679), Tu Hai secretly sent a letter to Beijing to make his opinions clear, which annoyed Xuan Ye for the latter thought it is proper to put more affects on the Huguang battlefield. As a result, Tu Hai was disfavored by the emperor. He was called back to Beijing and suddenly died there when the war was nearly coming to end. It might be argued that disfavor of Xuan Ye was partly the reason of his death. There are four chapters in this essay.First chapter, the revolt of northwest territory. Xingan. At first, Tu Hai's twice attempt attack and the reason why its plans were rejected by Xuan YE. Next, In the eighteenth year under the reign of Kangxi (1679), Tu Hai secretly sent a letter to Beijing, in which he proposed his thoughts, the reason of which will be discussed, partly based on his attitude towards the warfare in Hanzhong and Xingan in1679. Then the cause of rejections from military leader Sun Sike and Zhang Yong will be showed.Last chapter, the death of Tu Hai. The cause of it and different versions of it will be talked. Largely depend on the conflicts between him and the emperor on the arrangement of surrendered military leaders, and the reasons why he was disfavored by Xuan Ye.
