| Installation art, which originated from multiple forms of western modern art, is a major genre of post-modernistic art recognized as a hybrid art by contemporary art historian. Installation art was born in the course of post-modernist trend, continuously absorbing concepts of DADA,CONSTRUCTIVISM, ABSOLUTISM, SUPREMATISM and FUTURISM. The technology development, information explosion, increases in art mediums provides installation art with theoretical basis and external condition for its development. Installation art has entered the mainstream art world through the display in large-scale exhibitions and special collection museums.With the characteristic of counterculture, installation art has subverted the value systems and judge rules of traditional art, escaped the constraints of easel painting and sculpture, broken the boundaries of time, space, material and art from, and created plenty of philosophies and works with experimental and avant-garde characteristics. Nevertheless, it must be admitted that, along with great expansion and extension of the art domains, have brought some new confusions and confusions. The display focus of installation art is transferring from visual experience to thinking experience, workmanship to convey meaning and viewer participation. Since there are tremendous differences between installation art and traditional art, it is becoming imperious to research the spiritual content, external embodiment and value reconstruct.Diversification and multimedia complicated the aesthetic characteristics of installation art when it broken the limit of traditional form and material. While, with the expressive forms and methods of installation art widely used in other arts, combination and generalization of boundary between installation art and traditional art has become an inevitable trend. Although boundaries of art forms become fuzzy, it is needed to determine the boundary and threshold, essential distinction still exists because of the uniqueness of cultural essence and spiritual intension of installation art. So, it is needed to determine the boundary and threshold.The rapid development status of installation art forms a striking contrast to backwardness of theory analysis in China. This thesis explores and studies cultural origin, post-modernist characteristics and development situation of installation art, the main innovation of this thesis lies in the analysis of installationize of artistic design. As an important way of practicing the artistic theory, design creation and creative theory analysis of installation art are also essential. |
