Research On Soft Power Of Culture In Modern China

The developed economical or military power is not the sole justification of beingamong the powerful nations. It is widely accepted that the significance of cultural softpower should be put in a conspicuous position. President Hu Jingtao raised anproposal, saying that the cultural construction should be enhanced to anunprecedented height, meanwhile, the new connotation of cultural soft power hasbeen interpreted.The cultural soft power of China is currently in a weak position in theinternational arena, which do not match with the mighty hard power. The majorreason for this situation lies in two factors: the economical strength had remainedunderdeveloped numerous years before the reform and opening up, which inevitablyresulted in the cultural feebleness. When it comes to the second cause, China hasfirmly grasped the theme of economic construction, neglecting the construction anddevelopment of culture. As a matter of fact, since Marxism was introduced to China,the Chinese leaders of several generations have begun to explore the methodology ofcultural development, yet the road was by little means always smooth. China'scultural development at this stage is facing a series of problems and challenges: suchas the disadvantageous cultural innovation, the reform and the market economy do notnecessarily meet with the traditional cultural values; the cultural vacuum caused bythe transformation of old and the new period, the penetration of the dominant westernculture, etc.The international environments as well as the booming economic strength ofChina unavoidably demand us to build vigorous culture o soft power to tackle withthe various problems from both home and abroad. Based on this, proposing a newapproach for the cultural construction of this stage is of the utmost importance.Enhance cultural soft power related to the future of the Chinese nation as well asthe construction of a harmonious society. Therefore, only the correct understanding ofthe contemporary Chinese cultural soft power, and analyzing the scientific basis of the current realities can we enhance cultural soft power, gradually but stably.This article focuses on the exploration of cultural soft power, interpretation itssocietal significance, and analyzing it with the principles of Marxist philosophy.Secondly, I am to clearify the contemporary condition of China's cultural soft power,and summarize our cultural soft power advantages. Finally, this essay aims to proposethe development strategy of China's cultural soft power, combining with the currentpolicy.
