Core - Cracks Strategic Thinking Research

United States has not reached a grand strategy since the end of Cold War, like George Kennan once did after World WarⅡ. And this situation continues after Iraq War. The Thomas Barnett's Strategy was created under this circumstance. It is called"Core-Gap"Strategy because, in the strategy, the world is divided into two parts: the Functioning Core and the Gap. This Strategy offers a new view on the world tendency, the goal of US diplomacy, the reform of US Military and so on. It almost contains every aspect of US Strategy, from domestic to international. This strategy believes globalization, the value of US hegemony to the stability of international society. It deeply roots in the tradition of US diplomacy. \There mainly four object of this thesis: Firstly, introduce the three books of Thomas Barnett. Secondly, a systematically summary of his thought. Thirdly, a analysis of this strategy. Fourthly, suggestions on how to improve this strategy.This thesis will have six chapters: The first chapter includes a general introduction of Thomas Barnett, approach and framework of this thesis. The second chapter is a general introduction of the research about grand strategy. The third chapter is a summary of this grand strategy. The fourth chapter gives a thorough analysis of this strategy. The fifth chapter is about give some suggestions and ideas on how to improve this strategy. The last is the conclusion of this thesis.
