Study On Hai Rui's Legal Thoughts

Hai Rui, the famous honest official and active politician in the mid-and late Ming Dynasty, is well-known throughout the history of China as being free from any corruptions and never stooping to flattery in his political achievements were on the lip of the people even in his lifetime. He had a profound influence on later generations.The whole string of Hai Rui's legal thoughts , based on experiences and lessons ,is synthesis of chinese traditional legal culture,which embodies the wisdom of chinese traditional culture. At the time ,these proposals have been achievements, for all posterity it is a great inspiration and learning. This paper try to systematically Hai Rui's legal thoughts and in-depth research, in order to have a comprehensive and objective understanding.The first part of this paper introduces Hai Rui's political, economic and cultural background and his family, educational, career experience to illustrate the social environment of Hai Rui's legal ideology and depict complete spirit features of him. Tracing the source and then seek the origin of the legal thoughts: the combination of courtesy and law, the conception of loyalty and the thought of people-orientation. Then, from the legislation, officials administration, supervision, economic law and institute and justice in five areas , comprehensively and systematically elaborate the meaning Hai legal thinking. Finally, in summary, analysis of the previous chapter, we give a evaluation to Hai Rui's legal thoughts. The purpose of the article is to make people having a comprehensive understanding about Hai Rui's legal thoughts.
