Soft Power And The Construction Of China's Peripheral Security

China is the largest country in Asia with many countries, complex ethnic relations, diverse culture on its periphery. Although the overall security situations on China's periphery are stable, there are many unstable factors, such as the"China threat"theory, uneasiness raising by China's fast economic development, which threaten China's security. We need"soft power"to eliminate these factors. Soft power can advance the formation of common words, enhance mutual understanding and trust. and play a positive role in the development of hard power and the building-up of national security . At present, the development of Soft power is severely absent, we need to vigorously advance the development of China's soft power, and shape a strategy opportunity for China's peaceful development.This thesis which consists of four parts expounds mainly on the soft power and the construction of China's peripheral security.The first part is the comprehensive analysis of security situations on China's periphery, put forward the solutions with soft power. Soft power can coordinate the development of hard power, strengthen the affinity with China and controlling power. Then the thesis will make literature reviews on the research status quo of China's soft power, propose the views of this thesis.The second part is the analysis on the cause of rising of research on soft power, then this part will analyze and compare the differences on national security of the three main theories of international relations——Realism, Neo-liberalism and Constructism, and propose the view that maintenance of China's peripheral security needs to develop China's soft power from the perspective of constructivism, and further analyze the role of soft power in maintaining national security from the comprehensive perspective.The third part is the analysis of status quo and shortcomings of China'soft power, and the specific analysis of China's peripheral security. The lack of soft power is an important cause of the current status of China's peripheral security. If we want to change the current situation, we need to enhance China's soft power.The fourth part is about some propositions strengthening China's soft power: to carry forward China's traditional culture, promote vigorously public diplomacy, enhance the attractiveness of China Modle, develop China's military culture, and look ahead the prospect of China's peripheral security on the basis of these propositions.
