College counselors, the backbones in the ideological and political education in universities and colleges, are mentors and guides to college students in their healthy growth. Both the effects of ideological and political education and the overall quality of students are, to a large extent, determined by the quality of college counselors. Thus, in order to further strengthen and improve the ideological and political education in colleges, it remains a vital issue as how to improve the overall quality as well as enhancing the team building of college counselors. With roles more diversified, heavier tasks, social responsibilities, coupled with high-expectations, college counselors are finding it hard to cope with pressures at work, which inevitably undermines their work ethic, resulting in emotional burnout and lower efficiency, and will ultimately impact the constructions of college counselors.This article introduces job burnout - a problem that cannot be ignored among college counselors, by understanding its causes, digging into its causes and proposing corresponding countermeasures in the hope that it will improve the professionalism and career-oriented development of college counselors.This article discusses about job burnout among college counselors in four parts. The introduction section presents the background and significance of the topic, the theory overview of job burnout, the research dynamics, methods, innovation and deficiencies of both domestic and international scholars. The first chapter of the main body introduces the current status and manifestations of job burnout among college counselors in China and describes its process and hazards. With regard to the previous questions, the second chapter targets the analysis of the causes of job burnout among college counselors in terms of role conflict and ambiguity, low occupational status, non-optimistic prospects, lack of considerations in performance, lack of necessary psychological counseling, and influences by their own factors. Furthermore, the third chapter proposed the fundamental method to solve the problem of job burnout among college counselors. The countermeasures are raised in five aspects, namely, role orientation, evaluation mechanism, optimization of work environment, psychological counseling and intervention, and enhancement of professionalism and career construction. In conclusion, the author lays out the prospects of constructions of college counselors.
