As essential members of the university's faculty and staff, college Counselors play an active and significant role in carrying out ideological and political education work. It has become an important task for Chinese universities on how to strengthen the full-time team construction of colleges and universities' counselors.In the last few years, the research on the self-efficacy, job burnout and job performance has been a significant topic in the fields of organisation and behaviour theory and human resource management. As an outcome variable, job performance will be affected by many factors. Self-efficacy and job burnout are two key factors among them. Self-efficacy of college Counselors is a practical application of the self-efficacy theory into a specific work field of college counselors. Through introducing the self-efficacy of college counselors to the research framework of job burnout and job performance, this paper will discuss deeply the relationship of the three variables.The survey was carried out by means of a questionnaire sent to 540 full-time college counselors in the 12 universities. After undertaking variance analysis, correlation analysis, regression and path analysis, the paper comes to the conclusions as followings:1. The self-efficacy of college counselors can be divided into five dimensions:student affairs, emotions management, education guiding, personal communication and innovation of work. All of them have direct affections to the work performance.2. There exists an obvious deviation for the self-efficacy of college counselors, job burnout and work performance among different demography variables. The main factors that have an outstanding affection to the self-efficacy of college counselors center on five aspects such as marital status, educational qualifications, age, positional title, income. For the dimension of job burnout, emotion exhaustion has an obvious difference in the aspect of the working years. The level of income makes a big influence to the work performance.3. The self-efficacy of college counselors is significantly correlated with work performance and the correlation is positive. There is also a significant correlation between job burnout and work performance. The depersonalization and sense of personal achievement have a strong impact to the work performance.4. The self-efficacy of college counselors acts as a link between the job burnout and work performance.
