Foreign Teachers have been playing a unique role in cultivating talents who have international awareness, international communication skills, international competitiveness and innovation. The cross-cultural adaptation of foreign teachers was more and more concerned by university administrators. In our study, we investigate the influence factors of cross-cultural adaptation of the foreign teachers in Chinese universities (hereinafter referred to as the foreign teachers), by means of interview and self-report questionnaires. The step of the study:to explore the factors this may influence cross-cultural adaptation of foreign teachers by interview and then examine how these factors influence the cross-cultural adaptation by self-report questionnaires.The result of interview shows:1) cross-cultural adaptation of foreign teachers has two dimensions of socio-cultural adaptation and psychological adaptation, socio-cultural adaptation includes life adaptation, work adaptation, interpersonal adaptation; 2) the cross-cultural adaptation is well; 3) the cross-cultural adaptation is influenced by cultural differences, time of living, social support, language skills, cross-cultural experience, and the ability to adapt to culture.We reviewed Black's Socio-Cultural Adaptation Scale on the basis of the model of socio-cultural adaptation of foreign teachers. It has been examined that the reliability and validity are good. In the next study, it is used for measuring the socio-cultural adaptation of foreign teachers.The result of self-report questionnaires:1) interpersonal adaptation influences psychological adaptation; 2) Chinese level, cross-cultural experience, instrumental support, emotional support, cognitive intelligence, motivational intelligence, behavioral intelligence all influence socio-cultural adaptation; 3) sex, Chinese level, cross-cultural experience, emotional support, cognitive intelligence, motivational intelligence all influence psychological adaptation.
