Since the reform, all kinds of problems and confusions on life are caused by the collisions and conflicts of different opinions on values and philosophies of life. In the period of personality formation, the adolescents are more easily confused, moreover, some of them have personality barriers. Li Dazhao's thoughts on personality have great significance to solve these problems.This thesis adopts the method of historical research. The original materials are as following: all the articles wrote by Li Dazhao; the biographies; chronicles; memoirs; articles about personality education on newspaper and periodicals in Republic China. The thesis tries to present the overall research on the formation, elements, practical approaches, features, historical effects and references of Li Dazhao's personality thoughts.The first part expounds the origin, the significance, the relative researches, the main concepts and method of the study.The second part analyzes the era background, influencing factors and the formation of Li Dazhao's personality thoughts. This part illustrates that Li Dazhao is deeply influenced by the conflicts and blending of eastern and western cultures and Marxism is which brings him the new high degree to survey the problem of personality and promotes the final formation of his thoughts.The third part emphatically describes the elements of Li Dazhao's personality thoughts. Firstly, the cultivation of independence, Li Dazhao emphasized that people should be independent in mind and life. What's more, people should respect themselves and exert their value. Secondly, the respect to one's personality, Li Dazhao proposed the philosophy of constant self-transcendence and creation to cultivate the personality of self-esteem, self-respect and self-improvement. Thirdly, the respect to other's personality, Li Dazhao advocated that the basis of relations among people should be love and people should face each other as human being and provide mutual aids to each other to edify the life characters of respect to others and live harmoniously with others.The forth part explores the practical approaches of Li Dazhao's personality thoughts: through family education, the cultivation from parents with love, equality and democracy is specifically analyzed; through school education, teaching of history, speeches to students and the actions in association organizations is specifically analyzed; through social education, specifically the significance of publishing of articles in media is specifically analyzed .The fifth part summarizes features of Li Dazhao's personality thoughts: firstly, it is based on the new historical concepts; secondly, it dialectically analyzed the relation between personality education and common knowledge education; thirdly, it considers both individuality and sociality to cultivate the overall personality. The thesis analyzes the historical effects of Li Dazhao's personality thoughts: clarification of people's misunderstanding about personality; explanation of the advantages of the socialist personality thoughts comparing with the capitalist personality thoughts. The thesis analyzes the references to the content and practical approaches of contemporary personality education, especially the significance to solve disorders and confusions of adolescents'personality.
