Nu people are one of the most ancient native nationalities of Nu-River Valley. Nu people is a Less populated ethnic group of China, The number of Nu are 2,7738, and Nu is a trans-countries people, they are mainly located in china and Burma. "Ru mi qi" festival, the traditional festival of Nu people who lives in the Nu River Valley, in Fugong County of Nujiang, is the object of study in this dissertation."Ru mi qi" is the most typical and traditional festival of Nu people. It plays a very important role in the Nu people's traditional custom. The Nu include 4 branches such as "A Nu" which lived together in Gongshan county, "Nu Su" which mainly established in Fugong county, "Ruo Rou", which mainly located in Lanping county and "A Nong" which live scattered in Fugong and Lushui county. "Ru mi qi" mainly belongs to the branch of "Nu Su".According to the research of this dissertation, the festival has two forms:one is organized by local people in the villages, leaded by Priest, include the ritual and many traditional games. The other is organized by the Pi he government, include folklore in literature and entertainment evening party. This dissertation mainly researched the form which organized by local people in the villages."Ru mi qi" festival has been faded out for 50 years, and it revives in recent 10years but has some changes. So the author has to interview many old men to understand how the situation of the festival took place 50 years ago. To study the "Ru mi qi" festival, the author has done fieldworks for7 times, and have called on many cultural elites of Nu, Interviewed some priests and civil handicraftsmen, and acquired many invaluable information. Finally, "Ru mi qi" is described completely:the author has introduced the origin of the festival, described the process of folk ritual, and analyzed the change profess of "Ru mi qi" festival.This dissertation is composed of five chapters. In the introduction, the author discusses the major questions, theoretical foundations, describes the nature space and culture space of the existence of Nu people. The second part, mainly introduces the identity of "Ru mi qi" festival. The third part is the core of this dissertation; this part mainly describes the ceremony of "Ru mi qi" in different villages and analyzes the cultural connotations of these ceremonies.Above all, the author presents a traditional folk festival of Nu people to everyone. By studying of the "Ru mi qi" festival as a whole, this dissertation has made a contribution for filling gaps in the field of "Ru mi qi" study. The author describes the details and facts of this festival by keen observation and deep description by using theory and study method of Ethnology.
