For a long time, although there is no uniform name about ideological & political education on western country, but have engaged in substantive ideological &political education, and in strengthening the ideological & political education, has created many successful experiences. In china, although the ideological & political education started later than in western countries, but with the reform and improve of china's education system and the importance of ideological & political education has been strengthened, china ideological &political education has made very encouraging results, especially in the approach research aspects of universities' ideological & political education. We all know, the approach of ideological & political education is a key to the effect of ideological & political education and deeply influences the implementation of the objective, task and content of ideological & political education. As the arrival of economic globalization and cultural diversity, cultural contacts among the global universities are becoming increasingly close, and communications are becoming more and more in-depth. Comparison study on approach of ideological and political education between china & western universities has become more urgent and important. It will be easier for us to know the contemporary western universities' ideological & political education and the current international situation from every side by the comparative study of the contemporary china and western universities' ideological & political education. Meanwhile, the achievements of the comparative study of the contemporary china and western universities' ideological & political education offer reference to improve the ideological & political education of our university. Therefore, we should adhere to the principles of the study of activities of daily life of the student, target to the students' ideological & political education, seek actively new ways. Through a series of comparative study of the contemporary china and western universities' ideological & political education to promote the students' healthy political education, and enhance the effectiveness of china universities' ideological & political education.This paper defined the ways of contemporary china and western universities' ideological & political education, analyzed research significance, research status and research innovations. In reference to research results before the theoretical basis, open up a new perspective to study, namely: contemporary universities' ideological & political education and family education and social education for the study of the close relationship between the starting point, illustrated respectively the main way of contemporary china and western universities' ideological & political education, and combined the family education approach with the social practice activity approach. This paper uses experience summary method,citations method,case studies method and other methods, in-depth,systematic comparison,analysis and research the approach of contemporary china and western universities' ideological & political education. At the same time, analysized similarities and differences of contemporary china and western universities' ideological & political education, and illustrated the reasons for differences and similarities. Finally, formulated enlightenments to us from the comparative approach study of the contemporary china and western universities' ideological & political education, from the approaches research of china and western universities' ideological & political education respectively, and put forward some countermeasures and suggestions on the implementation of the methods or the existing problems.
