Education Under The Perspective Of Social Stratification Fair

It's cliche to talk about the relationship between education and social stratification. Up to now, many researchers have studied the influence of social stratum background on education equity, and the role of education in promoting social mobility. This paper tries to interpret the equity in educational outcome from a new perspective. We can not restrict it to the equity in attaining higher education, but also regard attaining the similar socioeconomic status as the real equity in educational outcome. We are not, of course, advocating education degree is the only important thing. A diploma just can represents time and money which a student and his family payed out. However, we have grounds for claiming that if so many people pay the same price for a same diploma, then they have the right to ask for the same return, let alone vulnerable groups pay more for this passport than superiority class.In the empirical research of this paper, we investigate the employment status among the college graduates after 70s and 80s, and analyse differences about three kinds of relationship between the two generations. The first is the relationship of social stratum background and education, the second is of education and career accomplishments when getting a job, and the third is of social stratum background and career accomplishments. The results show that with the development of the society, social stratum background affects education and job hunting more and more. Compared with the generation after 70s, social stratum background affects job hunting more among the generation after 80s. The influence of social stratum background is strengthening gradually. The stratum curing phenomenno is becoming more and more obvious.In the process of social development, social stratum also develops and changes. In a socity with more openness, education plays an important role in promoting social mobility. However, with more and more people becoming superiority class, this role will weaken. Stratum curing is one of the important reasons which makes education less equitable, and reduces education's role in promoting social mobility. Social stratum background affects job hunting more and more, which reflects the reality that elder generation passes on social identity to offspring. Social stratum realizes curing through education. Gradually, education just becomes the path to work, not the capital leading people to the upper class.
