A Study On The Ideological And Political Education For College Volunteers

Volunteerism in China has continued to spread since 2008. With volunteer activities being popular on campus, volunteerism has been attracting more and more college students. While student volunteers have met with some success, there are also some disadvantages and problems due to the lack of ideological instruction. Therefore, relevant ideological and political education for college volunteers is important. Though such programs can not solve all the problems encountered by student volunteers, it will help student volunteers to improve their service.This article first theoretically defines the concept of ideological and political education for college student volunteers and analyzes its significance. Through a series of questionnaires and individual interviews about student volunteers'voluntary experiences and current status, the author analyzes the causes of some of the main problems. Based upon a large amount of research data on the mentality and behavior of the students, the author emphasizes the importance of ideological and political education for college volunteers and gives some strategic suggestions on how to better supervise and lead college students participating in voluntary service.
