The teaching of ancient Chinese poems and lyrics is the important part in the Chinese teaching activity of middle school, it is students that know the resplendent civilization of China, deveolop humanistic accompliment, consumate personality and get aecthetic experience. However, there are many problems in teaching of ancient Chinese poems and lyrics .Such as the poor efficiency of Chinese teaching,the deficiency of teachers'poem knowledge, the limitation of students'appreciation, etc. To these questions, this paper, on the theoretical basis of conceputal blending theory of Fauconnier, starting from the cognitive analysis of images cognitive interpretation of ancient Chinese poems and lyrics. On one hand, the purpose of this study is to testify that conceptual blending as a basic cognitive mechanism not only has an explanatory power to conceptual metaphor, event blending , which linguistic phenomena, and offer a effective cognitive device for discourse analysis and meaning construction, but also prove the feasibility of teaching of ancient Chinese poems and lyrics. On the other hand,this paper is a very beneficial trying for Chinese teaching by introducing the cognitive linguistics. As a very important part of cognitive linguistics theory, the conceptual blending has both theoretical and practical value in the teaching of ancient Chinese poems and lyrics.Therefore, the significance of this research is not only to integrate the conceptual integration theory into the analysis of images construction in poetry, but also provide a new path for the effective teaching of poem in Middle School. Meanwhile, it also change the phenomena of teaching textbook by teachers themselves absolutely. Particularly, it can let the teachers know the regularity of poem creation, and then have more knowledge to guide the students to acquire the leitmotiv of poem, enhance their appreciation abilities, enrich their accomplishments, and stimulate their creative passions. This paper consists of five chapters. In the opening chapter, we first introduce the aim, significance,method of this topic, then introduce the status of teaching of ancient poetry, the requirement by the curriculum Lastly, on the basis of the review of literature,we indicate a new approach from the past study.Chapter Two constructs a theoretical framework of conceptual integration theory, which composed of the basic character of this theory, the running models. In other words, a minimal four-space blending model, a four-type classification of blending networks , the basic elements of blending operation ,and the fuction of this theory. In addtion to , researching the scientificity and feasibility of their combination are also included in this chapter.The third chapter explore the interpretation of images construction in poetry by conceputal integration theory. By selecting the typical poetry of textbook and combining methods of images construction(six common combinations), to illustrate the cognitive rules of the poetry writing and appreciation.Chapter Four contributes to the application of blending theory into the practice of interpreting ancient Chinese poetic discourse from the different kinds of poetry, and futher pointed out that teachers can use this theory to guide practical teaching.Full thesis of the final chapter is a simple summary , illustrate the theoretical and practical significance of this study, noting the limitation of this paper as well as some suggestions or prospects for future research.
