With the economic and social development, health issues become very concerned, the large number of studies have shown that physical exercise have a great relationship with physical health and mental health, physical exercise can bring the benefits of physiological, psychological and social adaptation to the human. However, there are also many barriers prevent people from participating in physical exercise. "Beijing 2009 Physical Fitness Test Statistics for civil servants and technical personnel," according to the results of the survey: 20-29 age group the proportion of not to participate in physical exercise, respectively, female 25.1%, 14.6% men. The factors on civil servants and technical personnel not to participate in physical exercise is not enough, the questionnaire provided limited information, especially the psychological factors we need further study. The nature of work of civil servants and technical personnel makes that they are the sedentary group, then the postgraduates are the same sedentary groups, this study did focus on psychological factors of the postgraduates non-participate in physical exercise.This study used qualitative research methods to study the factors of graduate students non-participate in physical exercise from the perspective of psychology, the study used purposive sampling to selected the sample of 20 full-time non-sports postgraduates, of which 10 boys and 10 girls, through the depth interviews to collect their data, using grounded theory method to analyze the data.The results indicates,(1)the psychological factors of postgraduate students do not participate in physical exercise, including interest, peer, sports experience, understanding of the importance of physical exercise on cognitive training, evaluation systems, character, habits, childhood experiences, lazy, inert, mobility. Further analysis of these factors make the high-level generic components, include: behavior cognition; emotional experience; subjective standards; behavior habits; the target attitude; behavior attitude; sense of behavior control; behavioral intention; personality traits.(2) the psychological factors of postgraduate students do not participate in physical exercise are different between boys and girls, the influence degree of interest, peer, evaluation system are different. The boys like sports more than girls; girls are more vulnerable to peer influence than boys; boys are more concerned about others, evaluation, girls are more concerned about self-efficacy.(3) whether boys or girls, the behavior of non- participate in physical activity is difficult to change in a short time, the develop of exercise program is difficult to be implemented, without outside intervention.(4) the study supports the nine factor model of training attitude and behavior, but compared with this model, this study also has an important influence factors are personality traits of character. Attitude- personality factors that constitute the psychological factors the postgraduate students non-participate in physical exercise.These findings help us not only understanding thoroughly the psychological factors of postgraduate students non-participate in physical exercise, but also providing an academic foundation on the intervention of the physical activity in the future.
