School Students Spoken English Learning Survey And Policy Research,

Since English course entered the primary schools, parents attached more and more importance to English. To lay the foundation for the children is the expectation of both parents and educators. As the era of knowledge economy and information technology approaches in 21st century, the global economic integration makes the trade and economic cooperation between nations more and more close and frequent. Therefore, besides his or her mother language, everyone had better master a second language, especially English, which is a basic requirement for a citizen in 21st century. And the new round of English course reform promotes the development of students' integrated language using ability as a priority. Since the most obvious manifestation of learning English well is to talk with others fluently, English course in primary schools should emphasize students'oral English, including pronunciation, intonation and learning skills, in order to lay a solid basis for students' following English study.This thesis focuses on the current situation of oral English study of students in primary schools. I conducted a survey of students and teachers through interviews and questionnaires and found out some problems. Then I began my study with reference to language learning theories. The thesis is composed of four parts. The first part is preface, a brief introduction of the reason of topic selection, research current situation, and basic thought and methods. The second part reviews the theories of oral English study of students in primary schools. The third one introduces the survey's details and makes a conclusion. In the last part, some teaching strategies are put forward according to the construction principles of oral English study tactics.At the present, with the start of new course reform, parents and schools pay more and more attention to students, and students' oral English are getting more progress, which lay a solid foundation for their learning in the future. Otherwise, there still remain some problems, which should be paid more attention by teachers and parents. And they should create a harmony atmosphere, furthermore, teachers take the effective teaching strategies, stimulate students' learning interests, and protect their curiosity, make efforts for their learning in the future.
