This paper puts emphasis on a comprehensive and intensive survey on seven representative private schools in Suqian. It reflects the current living condition of these private schools, e.g., despite some of the private schools went bankrupt, the number of private schools and current students remains quite a few. The number of current students in senior high private schools are larger than that of senior high public schools.private schools have been suffered an abrupt turn for the worse, with most of them are struggling on the edge of bankrupt. The reasons lie in the fact that the rapid expansion of private schools is in itself unusual, so some of them will be inevitably be eliminated by selection and competition of the society. Private schools are in the period of transition, so it's a trend to turn quantity expansion into quality improvement.Private education in Suqian, whether compared with that of our province or that of the whole country, is of representative meaning, which are represented in the increasing scale of schools, diversity of educational patterns, the school-level disparities and an increasing number of students. But since 2006, Suqian private school education, going as the trend of the whole country's private education, comes into a period of depression. Some serious problems appeared, such as the similar criterion between private and public schools, less enrollment of students, the brain drain of excellent teachers, a relatively decline in teachers'salary, a conflicting relationship in labor relation, and acute contradictions within teachers and so on.How can Suqian Private Schools get out of the dilemma? Research shows that it is a must to strengthen the awareness of market and innovation and to try to get strong support from government, what's more, the quality of these schools must be improved. Accurate positioning and unique modes of developing school are necessary. Last but not least, internal unity and scientific management are also very important.However, the private school education, just as the development of private economy in China, has a bright future but a tortuous road. In fact, the setbacks and challenges not only contribute to a survival of the fittest, but also help a new thing grow from a weak one to strong one.
