With the development and universalization of the higher education in China, how to find an effective evaluation method has become pressing. The questionnaire theory of student engagement developing, multi kinds of survey methods have emerged. Particularly, as the internet infrastructure keeps upgrading, the online survey is popularizing. NSSE, National Survey of Student Engagement, as the leader in this field, offers various and strong online survey and statistic analysis functions. Comparatively, the development of domestic student engagement research is not quite developed as it does in America. Therefore, the establishment of a complete, effective and stable website platform for student engagement is of significance. In this dissertation, the main point focuses on the background, the importance of the construction, the techniques as well as the details of the implementation of the student engagement survey platform.The platform, based on Java EE technology, employs the popular open-source frameworks and products, which makes it stable, open and run for long-term development. It's also a modularized and multi-tier architecture, with questionnaire module, user module, answer module and result analysis module, divided into six tiers which are persistent tier, PO tier, service tier, VO tier, controller tier and presentation tier. Such a clear system architecture advantages the platform with high reusability, cohesion, loose coupled, easily maintaining, upgrading and extending. The platform offers functions like questionnaire designing, survey delivery, data collection and result analysis, which is sufficient to carry out a advanced and effective online survey for the student engagement research.
