In recent years, with the continuous development of information technology and the unceasing advancement of education informationization, teachers using social software under the information technology environment to carry on the teacher professional development becomes more and more widespread. The traditional closed, training type of teacher professional development model has been unable to meet the growing professional development needs of teachers, most of the teacher professional development carried through the network. At present, netwok platform such as Email ,BBS, Educaiton Blog, Special website has been widely applied to teacher professional development. While research of application of Moodle in teacher professional development is still at an early stage. Under the background stated above, in this study, the author analyzes the application value of Moodle in teacher professional development , explores the model of the teacher professional development based on Moodle and the implementation strategy. The paper is divided into following sections:(1) The first section, several aspects are elaborated ,such as reasons of problems, research conditions about Teacher professional development and Moodle both at home and abroad, research method.(2) The second section is mainly to defined the relevant concepts, and elaborate the theory of teacher professional development based on Moodle .(3) The third section is to analyze and summarize the content of teacher professional development in the information technology environment , combine the functions of Moodle platform and the content of teacher professional development ,dig the application and support value of Moodle platform for teacher professional development, analyze the unique characteristics of teacher professional development based on Moodle .(4) The fourth section is to construct the model of teacher professional development based on Moodle and proposed three kinds of implementation strategies.(5) The fifth section is to start the questionnaire survey and the survey of teacher professional development network platform , analyze the current status and problems of teacher professional development based on Moodle platform, draw the corresponding problem-solving strategies.(6) The last section is to summary the main content and research work ,summary the limitations of the study ,and prospect the future work.
