The Research Of Interpersonal And Internet Addiction In The Undergraduate Students

ObjectiveNetwork for today's college students is an important part of everyday life, in addition to information search and receive news, send and receive free e-mail, the Internet is the main entertainment and social tool of college students, especially for those students that are easily frustrated in real life, they could temporarily forget the reality of difficulties or setbacks in the virtual network world, however, this could likely create a short-term satisfaction therefore lead to the obsession and addiction of internet. Severe disorder of internet addiction will result in life chaos and interpersonal barriers. The purpose of this study is to explore relationships between Internet addiction and interpersonal relationships of students from different backgrounds, and provide meaningful materials for effective student counseling.MethodsIn present study we used the "Real Social Interaction Scale","Chinese Internet Addiction Scale Revised" as a research tool to collect required information. The Real Social Interaction Scale can be subdivided into three factors:"intimacy with their parents","intimacy with friends","the message disclosure with friends"; the Network Social Interaction Scale can be subdivided into two factors:"the intimate disclosure with net friends", "the message disclosure with net friends"; the Chinese Internet Addiction Scale Revised can be subdivided into two subscales: "core symptoms of Internet addiction" and " related problems of Internet addiction".ResultsIn this study, the results showed below were from a total of 1562 effective questionnaires: 1. the results of the Internet Addiction Scale Revised scores are different in different backgrounds students: 1.1 the scores of male students are higher than that of female students.1.2 the scores of students from different colleges were significantly different, the scores of students from business college are especially higher than other colleges.1.3 scores are different in different departments.2. the results of the Social Interaction Scale scores are different in different backgrounds students:2.1 in the Real Social Interaction Scale, the scores of female students are higher than male students; in the Network Social Interaction Scale, the scores of male students are higher than female students.2.2 the scores from both scales are different in students from varied colleges: the real social interaction of applied social college students are better than other colleges and the network social interaction of information college students are better than other students.2.3 there is no significant correlation between real social interaction and network social interaction.3. the relationship of social interaction and the addictive network behaviors is significantly correlative.3.1 the real social interaction is significantly related to addictive network behaviors.3.2 the network social interaction is significantly related to addictive network behaviors.ConclusionThe characteristics of network utilization are different in students from different backgrounds. The social interaction of real world and network are different in students from different backgrounds. The relationship of social interaction and the addictive network behaviors is significantly correlative. The present study offered meaningful information for the further development of internet addiction counseling.
