With the deepening of education reform, it has been put forward clearly in the new curriculum standards that the basic concepts and curriculum goals of physics teaching in the stage of compulsory schooling are to cultivate the innovation ability of students, to develop their competence in the area of inquiry, to improve their ability to identify and solve problems. In the process of scientific investigation, experimental design, as a important element, is one of important links deciding the success of the research. For this purpose, in junior physics teaching the author apply theoretical study and practical exploration to cultivation strategy on middle school students'preliminary experimental design ability, trying to make physical experiments play a more active role in the process of training students'scientific literacy.Based on the concept of constructivism and humanistic learning theory, In this paper, the principles and basic idea of experimental design are presented. In addition, the experimental design capacity requirements are put forward by analysis of the new curriculum standards and the physical examination in recent years. Through the survey of status questionnaire given to physics teachers and students, we find that junior middle school students'experimental design capacity is very weak. According to this reality, combining with years of teaching experience, the author puts forward the teaching mode and strategies of training the initial capacity of students'experimental design in junior physics teaching, and practices them. It shows that the teaching mode and strategies on experimental design capacity-building are effective and feasible.
