In order to further accelerate the development of university students'orienteering in Jiangsu Province, the thesis takes orienteering athletes and coaches in 10 colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province for the study, and uses literature, investigation and mathematical and statistical methods, etc to study present situation in colleges and universities in Jiangsu. The main findings are as follows:1. High levels of enrollment and school selection are the main ways of orienteering athletes. The fact that 92% of the athletes are full-time students in colleges and universities shows orienteering has been recognized by college students. At the same time, it reflects that there is still much room for primary and secondary schools to carry out orienteering in Jiangsu Province.2. 80% of orienteering coaches'ages in colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province are below 45. 90% of the coaches have bachelor degree or above. 50% of the coaches have coaching experience for more than six years. Only 25% of the coaches have once participated in special events.3. Coaches think they lack experience in before-match guidance (45%) and orientation mapping (65%). Only 15% and 20% of the coaches think that he is rich in training theory and methods respectively. Professional training findings of coaches are only 20% of their research findings. Chances of coach education and training are small mainly because of special expenditures, coaches teaching stress, frequency and timing of related training and other issues.4. The organizational models of Jiangsu University Orienteering team are regular and irregular training in charge of coaches. 90% of colleges and universities are able to guarantee 2 times a week, and more than 1 hour each time for training. Single item tournament and a four-year-session- game throughout the province are the main forms of matches. The drop tendency of orienting in Jiangsu universities and colleges prompts us to strengthen it.5. The survey of present employment of orienteering athlete graduates shows that 45.9% of students are satisfied with their employment and 45.9% of the students think it is ok. They can give their communication skill to its full play when choosing a job and also have their own advantages after employment.6. Colleges and universities carrying out orienting in Jiangsu Province have special training grounds. The funding of orienteering colleges and universities is imbalanced. The source of funding is single and colleges and universities sports teams are not highly social.7. Insufficient promotion is the main problem of organization and management of Jiangsu university orienteering team. Specific sports training system is imperfections. Athletes and coaches have few chances to participate in matches. Coaches have low professional basis. Single source of funding and lack of equipment and special space are the constraints of development of university orienteering.8.
