The major way to improve the efficiency of teaching is to improve the efficiency in class, while the key to teaching efficiency lies in course design. Course design means making a teaching plan before class. A scientific and reasonable plan contributes mostly to high outcome. The new curriculum reform has brought about a range of changes. To adapt to the changes, firstly, we must attach importance to course design .With the aid of a good design, students are able to learn actively and autonomously in class.Oxford English is in use in Jiangsu Province. Many teachers have devoted themselves to exploring the pattern of a scientific design and pursuing a high-efficiency design. Many excellent designs have been put forward. In this essay, twenty excellent designs (in the form of PPT) have been collected, dealing with listening, speaking, reading and writing. On the basis of the theory of second language acquisition and new curriculum standard, empirical study has been made aiming to seek the pattern of highly efficient course.Through specific cases, the writer drew some conclusions. Firstly, the idea of high-efficiency design is that we must follow the law of foreign language teaching, and focus on the essence of teaching. It is of great significance to update the teaching methods to adapt to the new curriculum reform. Besides, as a teacher, we must lay emphasis on students'lifelong and all-round development. Secondly, the strategies of high-efficiency design are to input comprehensively and set a proper development zone (i+1). Arousing students'interest as well as lowering the side effect of emotion filter also plays a key role. Thirdly, some principles are suggested to attain high-efficiency design. It is suggested that teachers should guide the students to produce new knowledge in a meaningful way by designing tasks in a real way so they can acquire new knowledge in an automatic way. Teachers are supposed to help students study in a reflective way and organize activities in a cooperative way. Teachers should also attach importance to the imbalance of cognition of the students and the part teachers play as mediation. Furthermore, students'learning needs to be assessed in a scientific way. Fourthly, high-efficiency design consists of a clear goal, an interesting lead-in, a real-life situation ,which will help students to produce new knowledge in a meaningful way. Moreover, teachers are supposed to introduce learning methods to students and create a cooperative atmosphere. It's also a teacher's responsibility to ask students to reflect and provide rich resources. Giving a scientific evaluation is necessary as well. It is hoped that with these conclusions, when making a design, teachers can have a clear picture in their minds rather than obscure assumption, which will benefit their future teaching.
