In 2003, the Ministry of Education issued high school biology curriculum standards, and proposed inquiry teaching is an effective way to achieve creation and practice spirits. Some studies or researches related to the condition of new curriculum standards have been done, and at the same time some problems and advices have been proposed. This paper takes T city as studying object to explore the current situation, and on the basis of previous researches, this paper conducts a period research on afterward high school biology teaching, analyzes the existing problems in order to provide some reference for future reforms.The thesis mainly uses reference consultation and survey method. The author of the thesis does interviews on teachers based on the consulted reference and does questionnaires on students at the same time. Make a statistic and analysis connected with the consulting results, and find out the problems so as to provide the countermeasures and advices.This paper can be divided into four parts, as the following:The first part: the preface, it includes the background, current situation, purpose, meaning and methods of researches.The second part: researching process, this part analyzes researching object, identifies researching purpose, and explains researching process.The third part: results and analysis, results are concluded from the aspects of inquiry studying consciousness, studying habits, studying ability and studying problems and expectation by quantitative analysis. At the same time, teachers'attitude and knowledge towards inquiry teaching have been studied by qualitative analysis on teaching interview results. This shows that the current education system, the quality of teachers, the limitation of class hours, the lack of teaching resources, the disadvantages of evaluation system and the shortness of social support become the main elements to inhibit the effective inquiry teaching for high school biology teaching.The fourth part: strategies and advice. The study demonstrates that adjusting education system, putting emphasis on teachers'training, increasing education investment, perfecting teaching resources, building evaluation system and strengthening social propagating for new curriculum concept can improve the effect of high school biology inquiry teaching.
