Evaluation plays a big role in the English curriculum as an important part of English courses. It even leads the direction of the English course reformation in some degrees. The new round of course information has proposed us the evaluation of " Established procedure, promoting development " by the ministry of education. It's not just reformation of the evaluation system, but the change of the conception, the method and the means of the evaluation. How to improve the quality of English teaching using a method of evaluation in English teaching practice? This is a topic that every primary teacher is working on.The paper expounded the use of evaluation in the primary English teaching through investigations and researches and advanced the suggestion and advice to promote the English teaching evaluation of the primary school. It's also meaningful to the primary teachers.The paper falls into five sections.The first part:Problems advanced. It stated on the meaning of subject of research. To develop the research is satisfied English curriculum improvement. It's needed by the children and by the rise of teaching quality.The second part:Literature wrap up. Brief introduction to the meaning of evaluation and teaching evaluation, the theoretical basis of formative evaluation, the differences between formative evaluation and summative evaluation, and the research situation in and abroad.The third part:The research and analysis on the formative evaluation's implementation in primary school teaching. It includes investigation purpose and interviewee, tools, data collection, data analysis. The data analysis the present situation about practicing primary teaching English evaluation and how teachers comment upon their students. It carefully analyses student's reactions to the teacher's evaluation and the result of teachers and students conversation. At the same time, it also puts forward the key points for further research.The fourth part:result and discussion. On the basis of the data analysis, a further study in the reason of evaluation actions exists in the English teaching and gives the countermeasure.The fifth part:concluding remarks.
