For a long time, the competitive sports items have become the main contents of physical class in our middle and primary schools because of the influence of the competitive sports and the physical education. The PE course teaching in our country is competitive and westernized, regardless of the interests, requirements and acceptability of the students. Compared with the foreign competitive sports, our national sports have highly recreational and cultural value, they're convenient to carry out without any limitations and are well received by the students. The introduction of these traditional sports into PE in our primary schools is immensely beneficial for PE teaching content and will greatly enrich PE program. This essay is based on Zhao Diange central primary school, adopts methods of documentation, questionnaire and teaching practice, analyses the current condition of national and traditional folk sports in our primary schools. The applied research of national and folk traditional sports in primary schools includes investigation and experimental study. The investigation expounds the current condition of national and traditional folk sports in primary schools, the value and features of the current condition of national and traditional folk sports and the feasibility study. The experimental study is the practice of rope skipping and iron-hoop rolling, including how to play, what kind of principle should be adopted and the teaching approach. The experimental study proposes three hypotheses: the students are very interested in rope skipping and iron-hoop rolling, the benefits from rope skipping and iron-hoop rolling are the same as the modern sports, rope skipping and iron-hoop rolling are suitable for PE in primary schools. The experimental study shows that these two traditional sports are well received by the students and benefit for them, with the conditions and value, they should be popularized. The study provides some reference factors for PE, shows that the traditional folk sports are suitable for the development in primary schools and should be promoted.
